Author’s note: Journey so Far 2

Gratitude … A family of 1000… Some of the words that are coming to my mind while writing this.

Today, I’ll tell y’all a story. Cut to the night of 12 May, 2020. Its 8 pm and I’m uploading the title image for my first post Closure. Just 3 hours before, I saw an ad about a blog on WordPress. The idea clicks with me, because I want something which is not so mainstream, like a page on Instagram or Facebook, but something which I can work upon quietly and discreetly. With all sorts of uncertain thoughts running in my mind, I hesitantly click the ‘Confirm Publish’ button. This is how The Thinking Pen was born. In order to get familiar with WordPress and to set a base for my blog, I uploaded six posts that day. Like any other new passion, I was extremely enthusiastic about it in the beginning, but at that time, it was still something which I thought only I knew about. Then arrives 18 June, 2020. I remember opening my WordPress after some time and getting welcomed by a hoard of notifications. I was surprised that my blog had achieved 100 likes, 100 views and 30 followers. It was then that I realized, that out there somewhere in the world, there are people who are appreciating my work. From that point, there was no turning back.

25 posts, 5000+ likes, countless reblogs, award nominations and 1000 followers later, I stand before you. The Thinking Pen has given me a lot of memories. I’ve met so many worthy and hardworking bloggers from different countries. There are so many whose names I now remember by heart and I just search them in the reader to see their latest posts.

To be honest, it became difficult when my college started. I suddenly found myself in a negative headspace with frustration, conflicted by the hectic class schedules and assignments. I felt helpless, as the amount of time I devoted to writing and my blog reduced considerably. This blog taught me, that in order to win the war, you need to lose some battles. So, I tried my best to accept the reality and take slow steps. Nothing worth having comes easy. I put my resolve to treat this passion like a college subject and devote appropriate amount of time to this. And slowly but surely, I was back in the game. But enough of this trip down memory lane, this post is to express my gratitude to you, my readers.

The people on WordPress are the most positive and hardworking lot I’ve ever met. They know how to support people of all age groups, and make sure that their feedback is positive and kind. I thank everyone who shows their love towards my posts. There are so many comments that have made me smile on bad days and in the toughest of situations. I’m happy to have shared my work with you, and to reach this milestone in four months.

I admit that recently, I haven’t been much active owing to college. There are posts that get skipped in the reader. But I always try to like and view latest posts of people who are active on my blog. So, bear with me if you feel that I haven’t been much active on your blog, and just drop a message or be consistent on my blog 🙂
Again, Thanks to all you readers for making this a family of 1000. I’ll try my best to keep writing and bringing new content to you. There are a lot of award nominations pending, but I’ll be doing them when I’ll be free.
